Solariant is currently developing over 1GWac and 2.5GWh of utility-scale solar and BESS and standalone BESS projects in the Southwest and Southeast United States (AZ, CA, NM, FL, GA, KY). Solariant carefully enters markets based on a comprehensive internal study and selection process that balances market size and potential with the cost to develop. In its first two years developing in the U.S, Solariant secured a pipeline with over 1 GWp and a pathway to 2 GWp by YE 2022. Announced in February 2022, Daiwa Energy & Infrastructure will co-develop and invest in Solariant’s US development projects. The team plans to fully develop the projects and seek a buyer at NTP or COD to own, operate, and maintain the facilities, though it may selectively retain certain assets.

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., Inabata & Co., Taihei Dengyo Co., Ltd., Tokyo Sangyo Co. Ltd., and Hitachi Zosen Corporation entered into an agreement with Solariant to acquire its 52.7 MWp biomass power plant project (the “Project”). Solariant retained a minority interest in the project company, Fukuyama Biomass Power Plant GK.
The Project, which is anticipated to complete construction and begin operation in May 2025, is located in Fukuyama, Hiroshima and is expected to produce 380,000 GWh of electricity annually, which is equivalent to the electricity usage by 120,000 average households in Japan. The Project will be constructed by Hitachi Zosen (breaking ground in 2022), and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank is providing the project debt.

Solariant Capital, along with its equity partners, Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance Co., Ltd., and Bio Fuel Co., Inc., have closed financing on 9/30/2019 to construct a 50 MWp biomass power generation project, developed by Solariant Capital, in Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.
The biomass plant project will be constructed, operated, and managed through Kamisu Biomass Power Generation LLC, a joint venture project company among the four partners with a senior project debt arranged by Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Ltd. and mezzanine debt through Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance Co., Ltd. The 50 MWp plant will be utilizing biomass fuel, primarily palm kernel shell (a byproduct of palm oil) and wood pellets, to produce approximately 350 GWh's of electricity annually, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 110,000 households in Japan.

Located in the Aichi Prefecture of Japan, the Tahara City Biomass Plant will occupy an approximately 5-hectare space near a port. This project is being developed under the Japanese FiT program and will produce 50 MWp of capacity. The Project has obtained a utility interconnection agreement, an FiT award, and the majority of permits required to construct and operate. Once constructed, the biomass plant will utilize wood pellets from Solariant Capital’s wholly owned subsidiary, Lumino Biomass Fuel Inc, to produce more than 350 million kWh’s of electricity annually, providing energy needs for approximately 110,000 households in Japan.

Solariant identified and secured the project site through a land purchase/lease option agreement and obtained METI certification and utility interconnection approval. Solariant subsequently assembled a team comprised of an engineering firm, a construction company, a land development company, consultants, and O&M contractors. Working closely with the permitting agency of the local governments and engineering consultants, Solariant then obtained the necessary land development and construction permits to proceed with construction. The project closed financing in November 2015 and began operation in 2017.

Solariant co-developed a 41.3MW solar project in Shimane Prefecture with a local developer. Solariant (1) obtained site control over a golf course through a land purchase option contract with the landowner; (2) negotiated with the utility for optimal interconnection strategy and routes; (3) assembled an engineering team for civil, mechanical, and solar engineering; (4) negotiated an EPC contract; (5) provided public hearings to address resident concerns; and (6) analyzed and determined the optimal plant design to maximize output and profitability. The plant is currently under operation.

Lumino Biomass Fuel Inc. (“LBFI”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Solariant, is developing a pellet plant, along with 3 energy plantations, a co-generation power plant, and a private port in the Philippines. Once constructed, the plant will provide 750,000 tons of wood pellets annually, sufficient to provide fuel for biomass power plants and co-firing coal plants of 170 MWp in total capacity. The raw materials will be sustainably sourced from the 3 plantations (more than 45,000 hectares in total) and will be certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), which is an internationally recognized non-profit organization that promotes sustainable forest management. We will be planting more trees than we harvest on an ongoing basis and strictly adhere to the PEFC guidelines on sustainable forest management.

Solariant successfully developed three other green field utility scale solar projects throughout Japan over a three year period. The projects are located in Kumamoto, Kagoshima, and Nagasaki Prefectures. Solariant managed each project from initial site selection to development and financing.
